Herberden Telemedicine, Inc. is a non-profit California professional corporation formed to explore and develop technological solutions such as telemedicine, electronic Health Records system (EHR), and Health Exchange Information networks to revolutionize healthcare in rural America. By leveraging the innovative approaches developed by OffSiteCare Inc., a for-profit California professional corporation and a national leader in this field, the Heberden Telemedicine Foundation is working to meet the challenges facing rural medical facilities and their supported population. The goal of Heberden Telemedicine is to benefit from the creative approaches developed by OffSiteCare, such as dialysis over the Internet, to accelerate the shared goal of improving rural healthcare.
These two entities form a unique partnership with the same vision, and are in a position to do far more for rural healthcare together than either could do alone. By developing a delivery mechanism that leverages the potent synergy between usage of an EHR, telemedicine-based medical services, and an FDA-cleared medical robot developed by InTouch Technologies of Santa Barbara, CA, OffSiteCare has had great success in raising the acuity of care at its member hospitals and improving their financial viability as well. Heberden Telemedicine sees this model as a building block in its larger goal of improving rural medical care on a nationwide and worldwide basis.
